This project stems from a long-standing interest in reshaping how reality is seen through photography and imagination. It explores the idea that a photograph doesn’t just record the world, but can reinterpret and heighten it, creating a world that sits between observation and creation. While grounded in a growing appreciation for more straightforward approaches to photography, the work is driven by a continued focus on transforming everyday scenes into something more expressive and altered. Working exclusively in black and white, the project strips away distraction and focuses attention towards form, contrast, and placement. This choice acts as an initial layer of abstraction, allowing the structure of each image to take priority over its surface detail. As the work developed, it also led to the creation of a custom approach to processing images digitally, resulting in a distinctive inky, faux-negative aesthetic that further distances the photographs from straightforward representation.
